Welcome to Issue #4 of the ICSB 2010 World Conference E-Bulletin. This electronic news bulletin is thethird of six issues aimed to provide important information and announcements in anticipation of the ICSB 2010 World Conference. In this issue you will find information about our conference program, AGM meeting, workshops, sponsors, best paper awards and a speaker spotlight.

2010 World Conference Program is Now Posted!

Over two hundred presentations scheduled over three days

The ICSB 2010 World Conference Program is now posted onour official conference website for all to view. Please visit -http://www.icsb2010.org/program.asp - to find your timeslot and room number assignment. If you have any questions or concerns about scheduling, please direct them to the ICSB International Office aticsb@gwu.edu. With a diverse mix of excellent paper presentations and workshop sessions, we are confident that this years World Conference will provide value for all delegates.

On our website, please note that the Program is provided in a searchable-PDF format. After opening the PDF file, please use the Adobe Search function to quickly find your name and/or paper title. Included in the programare presentation times, session chair assignments, plenary descriptions and much more. 2010 Annual General Business Meeting of the ICSB (AGM): All are Invited to Attend

Annual AGM is scheduled for Sunday June 27 at 8:00 AM in Pavilion/Caprice

As part of the ICSB 2010 World Conference program, the ICSB Board of Directors will hold the Annual General Business Meeting of the ICSB (AGM) on Sunday June 27 at 8:00 AM in Pavilion/Caprice on the 4th Floor of the Hilton. This meeting is open to all delegates. We strongly encourage your attendance at this meeting where you will be informed of the ICSB's latest developments from the past yearas well asfuture initiatives under the leadership of our new President David Smallbone (ECSB). Dr. Smallbone will be officially named to his new post during this meeting as we finalize his transition from President-Elect.

The conference organizers have secured a 45 minute time slot on Sunday morning for the AGM. Our meeting agenda will allowtime for two-way discussions and questions directed to our Board from conference participants. We hope that a large percentage of the delegation will attend because ICSB wants to hear from you! The backbone of our organization is our members and the Board will be pleased to have your involvement.

Journal of Small Business Management (JSBM) Reviewer Workshop for Younger Researchers

The JSBM Reviewer Workshop is open to all conference participants and is aimed to train new and potential reviewers, with a specific focus on younger researchers. The workshop will take place on Saturday June 26 from 1:30 - 2:45 in the Hilton. Chaired by JSBM Associate Editor David Smallbone, this workshop will include the participation of experienced reviewers and editors, such as JSBM Editor-in-Chief George Solomon, who will talk about their own experiences as reviewers for high-quality journals and also give constructive feedback to inexperienced reviewers who wish to strengthen their skill set. The editors will also discuss the expectations of reviewers and how you can fit in.

Introducing the Best Paper Award in Asia-Pacific Small Business Management sponsored by the Korea Association of Small Business Society (KASBS)

New Best Paper Award Category at ICSB 2010

The Korean Association of Small Business Studies (KASBS) is sponsoring the “Best Paper in Asia-Pacific Small Business Management” Award to honor the outstanding paper presented at the ICSB 2010 Conference. The winning author will receive a commemorative plaque and US$1,000 prize, and the paper will be invited for publication in the Asia-Pacific Journal of Small Business (APJSB). Mr. Zong-Tae BAE from the KAIST Business School is the journals Editor-in-Chief.

APJSB is the quarterly Journal edited and published by KASBS. APJSB aims to support and encourage researches in management and policies for small/medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as entrepreneurship and new venture creation. APJSB welcomes theoretical and empirical papers on broadly-defined small business issues in Asia-Pacific regions. KASBS had published The Korean Small Business Review since 1979 and that Journal was renamed and restructured as APJSB in 2010.

Best Paper nomination and review process will be led by the review committee of ICSB and the Editorial Board of APJSB. Among conference papers, the outstanding paper dealing with management and policy issues in SMEs or entrepreneurship/ innovation in Asia-Pacific regions will be selected. The selection criteria include i) importance of the research topics, ii) excellence in research method, iii) relevance to ICSB theme, and iv) contribution to national/regional development.

Author(s) will be asked to edit the paper according to the APJSB Style Guide for publication in APJSB when the paper is selected as the Best Paper in Asia-Pacific Small Business Management Award. World Conference News for Participants

Elizabeth Edwards launched Metro Innovation, a catalyst for innovation and entrepreneurship, in 2009 after seven years in venture capital, private equity, and strategy and innovation consulting.

Metro Innovation helps cities, universities, community foundations, state venture funds, and economic development organizations find high potential technologies and aspiring entrepreneurs – and develop them into viable startup companies.

As a venture capital investor at Neyer Holdings, Elizabeth built winning strategies for start-up and growth companies in a variety of sectors, including clean tech, life sciences, consumer products, and technology. She has evaluated hundreds of business plans, and actively participated in the funding, launch, and management of five early stage portfolio companies.

Elizabeth started her career at Deloitte Consulting, where she was a strategy consultant to Fortune 500 companies, deployed over a broad range of industries, mainly focusing on the health care and life sciences. At Deloitte, Elizabeth’s work focused on strategic marketing, disruptive innovation, and growth strategies.

Elizabeth holds a BS in Economics and Psychology from the University of Michigan, where she graduated with honors and distinction, and a MBA from the University of Cincinnati, where she was Winner of the 2003 Case Competition. She serves on the board for the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber Agenda 360 Committee for Economic Competitiveness.
