You’ll be aware of the extensive campaigning we’ve been doing on the unfair contracts issue. We’ve done this because we’re just seeing too many self-employed people being ‘done over’ and they feel they cannot do anything about it!
In this next phase of our campaign, we’ve produced a Charter of Contractual Fairness.
It enunciates the guiding principles by which we believe contracts for self-employed/small business people should be judged. We’ve drawn these principles heavily from the new consumer unfair contracts laws:
We believe the new unfair contracts consumer laws should be extended to small business people.
We have initiated an active communications campaign to major Australian businesses asking them to commit to fair contracts in their dealings with self-employed/small business people. Here’s our letter.
So if you’re the CEO of a large corporation and we contact you, you’ll know what this is about. But if you’d like to initiate fair contract principles in your corporation, please contact our President: <mailto:norman@contractworld.com.au>
