The 2010 GEM Women’s report, launched in December 2011, is the most comprehensive study ever conducted about the entrepreneurial activity of women across the globe. Conducted in 59 economies, this unique research surveyed individuals rather than firm registrations. Over 14,000 women entrepreneurs offered insights into their motivations for starting ventures, as well as their ambitions for growth, innovation and expansion into international markets. The researchers also analyzed societal attitudes about entrepreneurship, paying particular attention to differences in perceptions among men and women.

The GEM Women’s Report is authored by Professors Donna J. Kelley, Candida G. Brush, Patricia G. Greene of Babson College and Yana Litovsky, GEM Data Manager.
